Le projet porte sur la dimension architecturale de la Cité et plus particulièrement sur le bâtiment manifeste de l'architecture métallique contemporaine qu'est la fondation Avicenne, anciennement Maison de l'Iran, réalisée par Moshen Foroughi, Heydar Ghiai, Claude Parent et André Bloc. Conçu dans les années 1960 et inauguré en 1968, ce bâtiment s'affirme comme manifeste par son principe constructif, les choix radicaux de ses architectes, et leur positionnement critique sur une période de l'architecture moderne, qu'ils développeront (Claude Parent avec Paul Virilio) par la suite à travers la théorie dite de l'oblique.

Dans le cadre d'un projet de réhabilitation architecturale et économique du bâtiment, se reposent actuellement des questions liées aux fondements de sa conception, telle que le maintien de la façade aveugle et opaque sur le périphérique. Cristallisant le geste radical des architectes, il s'agit de s'intéresser à cette façade aveugle et son contrepoint constitutif le périphérique comme point d'entrée pour développer un dispositif qui interroge les dimensions projectives, critiques et fictives de l'espace et du point de vue.

A la fondation Avicenne, le projet propose un dispositif d'éclairage artificiel de l'appartement du directeur situé entre les deux blocs suspendus du bâtiment, telle la simulation de l'occupation de l'appartement pendant la durée de l'exposition. Visible principalement depuis le périphérique au point kilométrique 04.6 (PK 04.6), le dispositif vient souligner les deux blocs aveugles de la façade qui encadrent l'appartement et, par conséquence, la seule vue existante depuis cette façade aveugle.

Le point kilométrique indique en km la position sur le périphérique à partir du point de repère de départ, PK/00,0 situé au niveau du joint de dilatation du pont en amont sur la Seine vers la porte de Bercy




The project focuses on the architectural dimension of the International City and especially on the manifest building of contemporary architecture that is the metal Avicenna Foundation , ex- House of Iran , constructed by Mohsen Foroughi , Heydar Ghiai Claude Parent and André Bloc . Designed in 1960 and inaugurated in 1968 , the building is a manifest by its constructive principle, by its radical architects choice, and critical positioning over modern architecture, they will develop ( with Claude Parent Paul Virilio ) thereafter through « theorie de l’oblique ».

In context of architectural and economic rehabilitation of the building, one of is most important principle which is the blind and opaque facade on ring road is called into question. Crystallizing the radical gesture of architects, it is to focus on the blind façade and its counterpoint the ring road as an entry point to develop a device that questions the projective, critical and fictional of space and of the point of view.

At the Avicenna Foundation , the project proposes an artificial lighting device of the apartment manager between the two blocks suspended of the building, such as the simulation of the presence in apartment for the duration of the exhibition. Visible mainly from ring road at kilometer 04.6 (KP 04.6 ), the device emphasizes the two blind blocks of the facade that frame the apartment and, consequently, the only existing view from the blind façade.


* PK/04.6 is the position of the Avicenna Foundation on the kilometer point (KP ) of the Paris ring . Km point indicates the position of the device from the landmark starting PK/00 , 0 located at the expansion joint of the bridge upstream on the Seine to Porte de Bercy
