HIC, l'exposition de la forme des idées, le groupe "Nexus"
HIC est une exposition de recherche. HIC expose la recherche menée deux ans durant par un collectif appelé La Forme des Idées sur le thème « Des localisations ». Ce collectif rassemble des gens de la Villa Arson et des écoles des beaux-arts de Lyon et de Montpellier : des étudiants, des anciens étudiants, des professeurs et des personnalités extérieures associées au projet.
« Des localisations » s’entend comme « délocalisation », bien sûr, à une époque où la mondialisation signifie aussi le départ de maintes entreprises sous des cieux plus cléments en matière d’exploitation de l’homme ; mais ce pluriel et cet indéfini veulent d’abord indiquer que nos manières de nous localiser et de localiser les choses ont changé à ce point que l’on ne saurait plus guère parler d’une technique de localisation unique non plus que d’une situation simple du local par rapport au global. En vérité, nous nous situons aujourd’hui grâce à des outils mentaux (des représentations de l’ici par rapport au là-bas, des techniques de spatialisation, des imaginaires de l’espace) très différents de ceux que nous employions avant le numérique, les satellites ou internet. HIC voudrait rendre compte de la portée d’un tel devenir de la localisation, avec les ruptures qu’il implique et l’indéfinition où il se pluralise.
Outre que la notion de localisation s’inscrit naturellement dans un registre technologique (songeons à la popularité du GPS), elle peut aussi valoir dans la géométrie de même que pour diverses sciences humaines ; mais le pari de la Forme des Idées est de faire se croiser ces problématiques du point de vue philosophique avec la pratique artistique ; non pas dans la perspective de quelque application (où les artistes auraient à illustrer des idées formées par des philosophes), pas plus qu’en direction du commentaire (où des philosophes devraient interpréter des œuvres artistiques déjà constituées) : bien plutôt dans une collaboration au sein de laquelle ni les formes ni les idées n’appartiennent de droit à un camp ou à un autre, mais s’échangent au contraire et se métamorphosent au gré des séminaires et des workshops réunissant artistes et théoriciens, étudiants et professionnels. Dès le début de la recherche, La Forme des Idées s’est divisée en quatre groupes distincts ayant chacun leurs objectifs et leur façon propres d’aborder les choses : HORLA, NEXUS, SPATIUM et GYPSY.
le groupe "Nexus"
Le groupe Nexus, dirigé par DN (Laetitia Delafontaine et Grégory Niel), Juan Luis Gastaldi et Patrice Maniglier, a consacré les deux années du projet de recherches à deux réalisations : la première fait partie de l’exposition « Hic : La forme des idées », la seconde a donné lieu à une seconde exposition, propre à ce groupe cette fois-ci, à HEC Paris, en collaboration avec Glasbox.
Le groupe Nexus s’était donné pour tâche d’explorer le rapport entre localité et globalité dans le contexte contemporain, ouvert par l’abandon de la solution qu’avait proposée la perspective, et travaillé par de nouvelles technologies figuratives (vidéo surveillance, G.P.S., etc.). La perspective permettait en effet d’articuler de manière précise notre expérience immergée de l’espace avec sa représentation abstraite (c’est-à-dire son géométral). Mais des considérations venues non seulement des mathématiques et des arts plastiques, mais aussi de la situation politique contemporaine et de questions philosophiques plus générales, nous incitent à ne plus prendre cette articulation pour acquise : la structure de l’espace telle qu’elle apparaît localement, et celle de l’espace global, ne coïncident pas forcément. Le modèle d’un tel écart est l’horizon terrestre : la terre est localement plate, mais globalement sphérique. Prenant acte de cette situation, ce groupe s’est proposé d’explorer les manières dont on peut repenser plastiquement l’articulation de l’espace local et de l’espace global en croisant les techniques figuratives contemporaines et les ressources de la conceptualité mathématique moderne.

HIC is an exhibition of research. HIC presents the research of two years by a group called La Forme des Idées on the theme " locations ." This group brings together people from the Villa Arson and schools of fine arts of Lyon and Montpellier: students, alumni , teachers and experts involved in the project.
" Des localisations " means " délocalisation " of course , at a time when globalization also means the departure of many businesses in warmer climates in the exploitation of man, but this plural and indefinite want first show that the way we locate ourselves and locate things have changed at this point that we can no longer speak of a single technical of location rather than as a simple situation of the local to the global . In truth, we locate today with mental tools ( representations of here compared to there, spatialization techniques , imaginary space ) very different from those we used before digital , satellite or internet . HIC would display the importance of location and what it becomes, with its breaks and its indefiniteness.
Furthermore the concept of location fits naturally into a technological register ( think of the popularity of the GPS) , it can also work in geometry as well as for various human sciences , but the challenge of la forme des idées is to cross these issues from a philosophical point of view with artistic practice , not in the purpose of some application ( where artists might illustrate ideas formed by philosophers ), no more than in commentary (where philosophers should interpret artistic works already established) : rather in a collaboration in which neither forms nor ideas can rightfully belong to one camp or another , but instead exchange and metamorphose at seminars and workshops bringing together artists and theorists , students and professionals . At the begining of research, la forme des idées is divided into four distinct groups , each with their own objectives and how to approach things : HORLA NEXUS, SPATIUM and GYPSY.
the "Nexus" group
The Nexus group is supervised by DN ( Laetitia Delafontaine and Gregory Niel ), Juan Luis Gastaldi and Patrice Maniglier (philosophers). They have made, during two years of the research project, two exhibitions: the first was Hic at Villa Arson, the second was in HEC Paris, in collaboration with Glassbox.
The Nexus group was given the task of exploring the relationship between locality and globality in the contemporary context , opened by dropping of the perspective solution, and working with new figurative technologies ( video surveillance , GPS , etc . ). The perspective indeed allowed to articulate precisely our immersive experience of space with its abstract representation (that is to say its geometrical ).
But considerations come not only from mathematics and art, but also the contemporary political situation and more general philosophical questions, encourage us to not take for granted this fact : the structure of the space as it appears locally and that of the global space, do not necessarily coincide . The model of such a difference is the Earth's horizon : the earth is locally flat, but globaly spherical . Acknowledging this situation , this group is proposed to explore the ways in which we can rethink plastically joint of local space and global space crossing contemporary figurative technicals and resources of modern mathematical conceptuality
For " Hic : la forme des idées" , the group proposed a hand to invite participating artists and students in the group to consider this issue in their own practice, and secondly to create a context in which these works may coexist within an architecture whose structure is not given a whole in all of its locations , but would emerge from the path which the visitor use through him.

Laetitia Delafontaine and Gregory Niel designed the central building of the « Galerie Carrée ». Once you have pushed one of the eight doors which give access , there are chances that you lose the sense of direction : at some point , you will not know say wich of four doors around you is the outside door and or is the inside door.
Is that the four rooms are not only identical in their production: they are ideally a single piece . You will realize when you have noticed how the arrangement of ornaments (neon , equipment , even location of works) changes from one space to another. It is as if you enter again in the same room , that would made a rotation of 90 degrees relative to the one you just left : instead of through the door as you enter, ideally you walk in the door to the left (or right ) you. You make experience of a virtual space in reality.
